I was supposed to get an iPod quite some time back, but never quite got around to it. Well, the time is finally here I think, high time don’t you think, and I’ll be getting an iPod and a Bose sound dock this week. I’ve avoided the concept of iPods for ages since I was just never keen on using ear plugs or headphones, but with the sound dock, it’s a completely different ballgame. So, I have been researching a bit and figuring out what is the best iPod to get, where to buy it from, although the price seems to differ very little in the stores that I have gone to. So far so good, and I’m looking forward to having my iPod by next week.
My Tokyo connection November 8, 2007

As much as I love to travel and like to cover new ground on each trip, the one place that I am quite keen on going is Japan, especially since my mom-in-law visited a couple of years back and described the energy of its cities. I would especially love to visit Tokyo during the famed Cherry blossom tea party season, which I read about in a novel some time back. I asked for a Kimono from Japan from their visit, which turned out to be a rather hard item to find, since no one really wears them anymore, except for the heavy ancestral ones that are for special occasions.
She did manage to find me a lovely kimono in a pale beige with a cherry tree on it, which I found just too beautiful that I could not wear it and decided to display on my wall. It looked simply fabulous on the wall, more a work of art than anything else, but after close to 8 months there I took it down and now wear it myself. I’ve always been particularly fond of Kimono’s as I had one when I was growing up as well, as a gift from an aunt. I do hope though, that the Japanese people do not relegate the Kimono only for ceremonial purposes but keep it alive as a living and wearable piece of art as well as clothing.
Missing items in Ikea packages October 31, 2007

Considering how much I love Ikea stuff, yesterday was the first time I actually assembled something from the store. I’ve put together smaller items from the store before, things that did not require any tools and just clicked into place itself, but yesterday we put together a set of Klubbo nested tables and the Mikael drawer unit. The Klubbo nested tables had 4 screws missing, so I need to get hold of them and the Mikael drawer unit had a warped drawer rail which is making the bottom drawer jam.
We had got a Mikael desk earlier that was assembled by Ikea people and there were several missing screws as well as a piece that was facing the wrong direction and needed to be ordered again. It eventually took 3 weeks for them to come and fix it again. It seems that this happens quite a bit and is something that I had not expected or anticipated from Ikea at all. I do hope our future experiences with Ikea items will be smoother.

So, I’m finally back home in Dubai after a wonderfully hectic trip back to India. The wedding was simply wonderful, definitely the most fun wedding that I have ever attended and it was really great to catch up with everyone there. I can’t believe I was away for over 3 weeks, when I was initially only going to go for a quick and short trip, but then it turned out to be a nice, hectic vacation. Not much relaxation, but still a really great trip, and I’m now wondering when I’ll be able to go again for such a trip. It does feel great to be back home, and I’m going to take a bit of time to settle in, before starting off work again, probably a week or so. Let’s see how it goes.
The Blackberry Pearl rocks! September 4, 2007

I’m really excited about my hubby’s new phone, more excited than he himself is actually. The phone is the Blackberry Pearl and it’s a really great phone. It is essential to have a phone where we can access mails and there is no better cell phone than the Blackberry Pearl when it comes to that. We checked out several other phones, but after reading some cell phone reviews, we decided that it just had to be the Blackberry.
We got the phone a day back and have set up the email accounts and now have access to both mail accounts from the phone, no matter where we are. It’s a really great way to keep in touch with clients and keep track of what’s going on, no matter where you are. I’m still using my basic Nokia cell phone although I too am getting very tempted in getting another one of these phones!

It’s been a very long break from posting here. I’ve been busy since the end of July in moving home and have not had regular access to mail. So, that’s why no comments have been approved or no new posts have been made for the past month and a half. I will try and catch up with all pending work as soon as possible and hope to get back to posting regularly here very soon. Thanks to all my readers for their paitence!
Lack of posts July 12, 2007

Lack of posts due to the hectic sorting, planning, organizing, selling etc that is currently going on in our lives. I’m on break from work and hope to get back on the blogging bandwagon once I have completed the selling and shifting process. Considering we do this so often, it’s getting quite tiring as we accumulate more and more things that we have to dispose of, leave behind or somehow lug with us each time we move.

It’s been quite a while since I last posted here. Didn’t realize it had been over a week actually! Well, I’m currently in Delhi at my in-laws for a couple of weeks, since my hubby was going to be out of town, it just made more sense to come here and be pampered. I am working though, and just yesterday got my wireless set up, so I can continue to work on my own laptop.
The weather here is wonderful, in fact, it’s raining and thundering right now and I’ve got the balcony door open in front of me with lovely cool breezes floating in smelling of wet rain. I’ve been taking lots of photographs and hope to take more once the rains begin in earnest and everything turns to green. Since we live on the 10th floor, we get a lovely view of the area, including the famous rocky landscape of Delhi’s outskirts.

Mine is small, efficient and has lots of light. I have windows on two sides of me, a compact desk and a cork board on the wall facing me, where I have put up some artwork from college, a Picasso portrait (yes, well, what the heck they seem to go together quite well!!), a sepia postcard from Jaipur, an old treasured pic of my grandparents and sister as a baby and a pic of me and my hubby from our time in Bangalore (yes, I have the requisite flower, a peach Plumeria no less, behind my ear, as I always did in Bangalore!). I also have a ledge below the window where I keep my reference books, dictionaries, a thesaurus (yes, I still use them, although I bought them in college), my marketing Whitebooks from the last couple of years and some interesting books that I have read lately and want to write about.
Thanks to TimeforBlogging where I saw this first!!
